Small but loud.

One room. Several lives.

Cook. Eat. Work. Sit. Preferably not all at once.

Six lofts near Fondazione Prada, and one prototype to work out how much life we could fit into a very small footprint.

The answer was: quite a lot.

Instead of dividing the space into miniature rooms, we used height, built-in elements and furniture to give different moments their own territory. The mezzanine takes care of what the floor couldn’t. The study closes away. Storage becomes architecture. Circulation does more than circulate.

And because small spaces are already very serious about dimensions, we saw no reason for the interiors to be serious too.

Colour, pattern, art and slightly unreasonable combinations do the rest.

Small, yes. Quiet, no.

Going up. Showing off.

The stair had one job. We gave it several.

Everything earns its place.

Upstairs, technically.

When square metres run out, we look up.

Work disappears at six.

A desk when you need it. A wall when you don’t.

Small room. No small gestures.

Beige was never invited.
